Dental caries, also referred to as cavities or tooth decay, is a disorder where germs cause the enamel and dentin, the hard tissues of the teeth, to gradually deteriorate. Here are some essential details regarding dental caries:-
Pathophysiology: Bacteria in the mouth break down sugars from food to produce acids, which is what causes dental caries. These acids cause the tooth enamel to become less mineralized, which causes tiny fissures or holes to appear in the tooth's structure.
symptoms: Dental caries can cause pain, trouble swallowing, and painful, discolored teeth, among other symptoms.
Diagnosis: Dental caries is diagnosed by dentists using inspection, probing, and dental x-rays
Treatments:-
Fillings: Using the proper dental filling material, the affected area's deteriorated material is removed as the most usual course of treatment.
Crowns: To cover and safeguard the remaining tooth structure in cases of severe injury, crowns may be utilized.
Prevention:-
You can avoid dental caries by practicing good oral hygiene, seeing the dentist on a regular basis, and consuming less sweets.
